Audi has announced that it is now offering its 2.0L TFSI® inline four-cylinder engine on all front-wheel-drive A3 sedan models in order to replace the previous 1.8L engine. This engine doesn’t only boast 16 more horsepower and 21 more lb.-ft. of torque, but it’s also extremely efficient, offering 29 MPG combined.
How does a 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine make 186 HP and 221 lb.-ft. of torque? The advanced TFSI® turbocharging system enables the new Audi engine to deliver impressive power, while still maintaining fuel efficiency. The TFSI® system helps pressurize fuel as the turbocharger spools up. This means while the turbo pushes more air into the combustion chamber, more fuel is added in parallel. The TFSI® system allows the new engine to produce more power, create less waste, and achieve a 0-60 MPH time of only 6.6 seconds.
